HOUSE FIRE IN THE 12-03B DISTRICT
Nov
10th-
Around 0100
hrs communications alerted the
chimney fire assignment to Drifted
Lane in Amberson. While units were
en route communications called
Deputy
Chief 12
and advised
they received a second call back,
now advising fire in the attic. The
assignment was upgraded to the full
box alarm.
Engine 12-2,
Engine 12-1 and Tanker 12
all arrived to find fire showing
from sides "A" and "D". Interior
crews put a quick knock on the fire
and extensive overhaul was
completed. Units cleared around 0400
hrs. Company's responding-
12,11,21,15,51,52,53.

ENGINE 12-2 PROTECTS THE CITY
Nov
6th-
At 1036 hrs
FMFD
was alerted to the 11-06 box to fill
the assignment for a dwelling. After
being placed in service
Engine 12-2
was alerted to transfer to
Headquarters Fire Station.
Engine 12-2
cleared with no calls at 1430 hrs.

ATV ACCIDENT
Oct
31st-
Around 1200 hrs
FM EMS
was alerted to the 19000 block of
Path Valley Road for meeting a
vehicle for an ATV accident victim.
As
Ambulance 12-9
was leaving the station, the vehicle
with the patient showed up at that
station. EMS crews accessed the
patient and Air Medical was alerted
to the rear of the station.
Engine 12-1
set up the landing zone for
Stat MedEvac 11.
Units cleared at 1300 hrs.

EMS TRANSFERS TO CO.11
Oct
25th-
Ambulance 12-9
transferred to
Pleasant Hall Fire Company
on Saturday morning while members
traveled to the FCPSTC to train on
auto fires. At 1124 hrs EMS was
alerted to 11000 Cumberland Highway
for an auto accident with
entrapment. A member of
PHVFC
found the accident as it happened,
units arrived to find one auto off
the roadway with a utility pole
sitting in the roadway. Moderate
damage was found on the drivers side
of the auto. One female transported
to the hospital. Around 1300 hrs Ems
was alerted to the PA Turnpike mile
marker 204 eastbound for an auto
accident with entrapment.
Ambulance 12-9
was used as a triage unit for this
incident. Ambulances from
Pleasant Hall,
Newville,
and
Carlisle
was used for transport. Air medical
was grounded due to heavy rain in
the area.
Ambulance 12-9
cleared at 1430 hrs.

TIMMONS ROAD CRASH

On Friday
afternoon
FMFD
units were alerted to the Timmons
Road for the auto accident. Units
arrived to find one SUV off the
roadway in a field. EMS transported
one to the hospital. Units cleared
shortly after.

CRASH IN JUNIATA COUNTY

19th-
On Sunday
morning
Engine 12-1
was alerted to assisted
Juniata Co.7
with an auto accident. Units arrived
to find a rear end collision with no
injuries.
FMFD
assisted with fluid control.


FLYOUT FROM THE TIMMONS MOUNTAIN
Oct
12th-
On Sunday
evening
FMFD
units were alerted to the Timmons
Mountain for a motorcycle accident.
Units arrived to find on patient,
Air medical was requested per the
paramedic.
Engine 11-2 (PHVFC)
handled the LZ operations in
Roxbury. Crews cleared shortly after
1800 hrs.

PATH VALLEY ROAD ACCIDENT
Oct
12th-
At 0755 on Sunday morning
FMFD
units were alerted to 20716 Path
Valley Road for an auto accident.
Chief 12
arrived to find two autos off the
roadway with all patients out of the
autos.
Ambulance 12-8
obtained two refusals and the engine
crews took care of the hazards.
Units cleared at 0930 hrs.

HOUSE FIRE IN THE 7 BOX
Sept.
19th-
At 1430 hrs
FMFD
was alerted to Route 35 in Juniata
County two mile north of Cross Keys
for a house fire.
Engine 12-2
and
Tanker 12
responded to the incident with a
crew of 7. Once arriving on the
scene
FMFD
crews were assigned interior
operations, Crews assisted with
ventilation and overhaul.
FMFD
cleared at
1700 hrs.

SMALL ACCIDENT
Sept.
17th-
Around 1500 hrs
FMFD
was alerted to Spring Run Road East
for an auto accident. Units arrived
to find one auto in the roadway with
no injuries. EMS obtained a patient
refusal and the engine crew took
care of the fluids. Units cleared in
a little over an hour.

ATV ACCIDENT
Aug
30th-
At 0844
FMFD
units were alerted to Briggs road in
the
12-01
box area for an ATV accident. Units
arrived to find a patient needing
air medical. All air medial units
were grounded due to weather.
Stat 11
out of Altoona was started for a
ground team interception.
Ambulance 12-8
and
Medic 84
met with
Stat 11 ground
team in
the Huntingdon area.
Ambulance 12-8
continued transport to Altoona
Hospital. The Patient was then flown
to Pittsburgh Hospital for more
specialized treatment.

ACCIDENT VICTIM RETURNS TO SAY

Wayne Ellerman returned to say
"Thank You" to the members that
worked the scene of his accident on
June 3rd, 2008. All the members wish
Wayne a speedy recovery.

KID'S WEEKEND 2008

Members had another successful
showing for the Kid's Weekend 2008.
Eighteen kids showed up for the
weekend activities. Members
demonstrated fire, vehicle
extrication, and medical practices.

his Ladder Truck. Thanks to all that
made this weekend possible.

Tanker 52
was assisting with a barn fire in
Co.50's
area.

with a fluid spill.

"I DON'T THINK WERE IN DRY RUN
ANYMORE TOTO"

Around 1730
hrs a severe thunderstorm visited
the valley.
FMFD
received multiple calls around 1800
hrs from the damage path of the
storm.
FMFD
spent about three hours clearing
debris from the storm. County EMA
met with Local EMA to assess the
damage. PEMA and the National
Weather Service arrived the next day
to look around. The National Weather
Service advised all straight line
winds no tornados were in the area.

FMFD ASSIST WITH CHAMBERSBURG FIRE

hrs
Engine 12-2
was alerted to transfer to
Letterkenny
Fire Department,
and
Ambulance 12-8
was alerted to transfer to
Headquarters
Fire Station.
While en route to the transfers
Ambulance 12-8
was alerted to
the scene at 699 Broad Street. Just
after
Engine 12-2
arrived at
Co.13,
they were upgraded to the scene as
well. The engine crew assisted with
fire ground operations.
Ambulance 12-8
handled 6 calls before being
released.

FRONT ROW PARKING
Jun 6th

At 1700 hrs
FMFD
was alerted to the 18000 block of
the Path Valley Road for an auto
accident. Units arrvied to find one
auto off the roadway sitting next to
a house. The auto had taken out a
tree and some guard rails, then
parked neatly beside a bush next to
the house. The driver was self
extricated and a patient refusal was
obtained.

CRASH WITH ENTRAPMENT
Jun 3rd
-
At 1939 hrs
FMFD
was alerted to Spring Run Road East
and Stone Bridge Road for a vehicle
accident with entrapment.
Communications advised one dump
truck and a pickup truck head on.
Units arrived and confirmed the
dispatch. One male was entrapped in
the pickup. Air medical was
requested to the scene, along with
FMFD
second engine and ambulance. Crews
worked in the pouring rain for about
30 minutes to free the male from the
truck.
Stat Med
Evac 12
landed at the scene despite the
weather. The patient was flown to
Altoona Hospital. Units assisted the
State Police with lighting and
cleared at 0037 hrs.
Huntingdon
Engine Tanker 14
covered the
valley for the duration of the call.

GARAGE MADE INTO A DRIVE THRU
May 31st
-
At 1845
FMFD
was alerted to
21264 Goshorn Road for an auto
accident. Communications advised one
auto into a building.
FMFD
unites arrived to find one auto off
the roadway in a field. One female
was self extricated. EMS obtained a
refusal, and the engine company took
care of fluid control. After looking
at the scene it was found that the
auto had just missed 2 utility
poles, and still hit a Texas Eastern
corrosion measuring pole, and drove
through a shed. Units cleared at
2031 hrs.

PROM PROMISE DRILL AT THE HIGH
SCHOOL
May 2nd
-
Crews met at the high school on
Friday to take part in the Prom
Promise drill. This drill is to
simulate the effects of drunk
driving. Crews had a simulated crash
in front of the school with some
fatalities. Everybody that
participated did an excellent job.

SMOKE IN A MOBILE HOME

On Wednesday
evening communications alerted the
21-01
box to
Pine Ave. for smoke in a mobile
home.
Chief 21
arrived to
find a light smoke condition in the
residence. Command held the box to
Co.21
& Co.12.
&

Crews found some burnt wires around
the panel box. Crews cleared shortly
after.

TRANSFER TO NEWBURG / BUILDING FIRE
Apr 22nd
-
Engine 12-2
transferred to Newburg-Hopewell Fire
Company on Tuesday afternoon, After
completing the transfer engine 12-2
was requested to the scene to assist
with the fire on Green Spring Road.
Engine 12-2 responded to the scene
and assisted with overhaul.

AUTO ACCIDENT
Apr 19th

Units from
FMFD
were alerted
to the 15000 block of Amberson Road
for an auto accident. Units arrived
to find one auto that had struck a
tree and was blocking one lane of
the roadway. EMS transported on to
Chambersburg Hospital and the engine
crew assisted with cleanup.
